  • Real-Time Location Tracking: Continuous and accurate reporting of a vehicle’s geographical position using GPS and/or NavIC. This data is transmitted to a centralized control room.  
  • Emergency Button (Panic Button/SOS): A dedicated button within the vehicle that, when pressed, sends an immediate alert to the designated emergency response center, along with the vehicle’s location.  
  • Device Tamper Alert: Mechanisms within the device to detect and report any attempts to tamper with or disable the tracking system. This ensures the integrity of the data and the continuous operation of the safety features.  
  • Power Backup: An internal battery that allows the device to remain operational for a minimum specified duration even if the vehicle’s main power supply is disrupted.  
  • Data Transmission to Multiple Servers: The ability to simultaneously transmit tracking data to both a primary server (for regular monitoring) and a dedicated emergency response server.  
  • Adherence to Environmental Standards: The devices are built to withstand the harsh environmental conditions prevalent in India, including dust, water splashes, and temperature variations.  
  • Support for Telematics Capabilities (in many advanced devices): While not strictly mandated in the basic AIS 140, many compliant devices also offer features like vehicle health monitoring, driver behavior analysis (speeding, harsh braking, etc.), and fuel monitoring.
